Wadebridge is busily installing e-car charging points, as the days when electric vehicles become a normal choice are getting nearer.
WREN is exploring ways of helping e-transport to become more mainstream. The advantages are in running costs and environmental benefits, especially where there are plentiful sources of renewable energy. The disadvantages include the currently high capital cost. WREN is looking at national as well as local e-car sharing arrangements, as well as an e-van share scheme for a number of businesses which would find this option attractive. WREN members are trialling an electric quad bike, and are very impressed. These machines are particularly interesting to organisations which have renewable generation capacity and want a vehicle which can be used on and off road.
